2018 Specialty

2018 Specialty

August 24th-28th, 2018

Long Sault, Ontario

Plans for the CCCC’s 2018 National Specialty Show are moving ahead!  The show will be held in conjunction with the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry Dog Association’s shows, August 24th to 27th, 2018, at the beautiful Woodlands Campground, near Long Sault, Ontario.  Woodlands is operated by the St. Lawrence Parks Commission, and is one of several campgrounds along the Long Sault Parkway on the shores of the St. Lawrence River.  If you are planning to camp at the show, we recommend booking your campsite as early as possible.  You can contact the club directly, up to February 15th.  Send your email to Jodie at:    banquise@sympatico.ca

If you weren’t able to reserve before February 15th, visit the park website at https://www.stlawrenceparks.com/camping/campgrounds/long-sault-parkway/woodlands-campground/ to book your site.

If you are planning to stay at a hotel, there are several pet-friend hotels within a short drive of our show site.  The SD&G club suggests the following hotels.  We recommend that you book your rooms as soon as you can – this is a very popular show, which hosts many specialties, so pet-friendly rooms are snapped up quickly!

Best Western 1515 Vincent Massey Dr., Cornwall, Ontario — 613-932-0451

Comfort Inn 1625 Vincent Massey Dr., Cornwall, Ontario — 613-937-011

McIntosh Inn 12495 Hwy 2, Morrisburg, Ontario — 888-229-8500

Howard Johnson 1142 Brookdale Ave., Cornwall, Ontario — 613-936-1996

One of the most enjoyable parts of any specialty is the chance to socialize with old and new friends.  We decided to take advantage of the Specialty’s timing in August, and have a catered barbeque as our specialty dinner.  The evening is being organized by our hospitality coordinator, Nancy McIntosh.  Nancy had very generously offered to host it at her home, which is less than ten minutes’ drive from the show site.  She has plenty of room for a big crowd, indoors or outdoors, as weather dictates.  There is also exercise space for our dogs, and plenty of safe, shady parking on her country road.

The barbeque will offer either pulled pork or chicken as the main course, accompanied by sides, dessert, fresh fruit, pop and water.  And, of course, the event will be BYOB.  Special dietary needs can be accommodated; please indicate your requirements on the reservation form, and include either your email or phone number.  Cost will be $25 per person, and must be paid in advance by August 1st.

The evening will include talks by both of our judges about their overall impressions of the Cardigans who were shown to them.  There will also be a raffle, and silent auction.

New E -Transfer Process

I am pleased to announce that the Canadian Cardigan Corgi Club is now registered for on-line banking, so now you can send money using etransfer, if you wish. For those of you who haven’t used on-line banking before, I hope you will find the following steps helpful, should you want to try it out!

While each bank may have a slightly different screen sequence that you may have to follow, this is the one for the TD Bank. If you don’t have internet banking, you will first need to set that up with your bank. Once you have on-line banking, these are the steps to set up the CCCC as a recipient for etransfers:

Login to your own bank accounts

Click on “interac etransfer”

Click on your name, and select the account you want the funds taken from

Enter the $ amount (if there is money you want to transfer…otherwise just put $0)

Click on “Add recipient”

Type in the name:  Canadian Cardigan Corgi Club

Type in the email address:   cccctreasurer@cardigancorgi.ca

Type into the security question box:   What is my dog’s name?

Type into the answer box  (all in lower case):   duncan

Confirm answer:    duncan

Click:  next and finish

Now that you have set up the CCCC as a recipient, you can click “send money” and proceed to send your etransfer. As soon as you press finish, the funds are withdrawn from your account. (just like using a debit card)

Once the transfer is complete, you will get a confirmation page from your bank with a confirmation number. You should keep a record of the confirmation #. As Club treasurer, I will then receive an email from the club email address & I can then accept the funds into the Club account. Once I accept the funds, you will receive another email stating that I have accepted your transfer. This usually takes about 1/2hr from when I open the email. You should keep a copy of this email too for your records.

Don’t panic if you don’t get the final email right away. I have to be on the net to accept your transfer, and I usually only log on a couple of times a day…..so please be patient!
