Over the Easter long weekend, the Canadian Cardigan Corgi Club participated in the “Breeder’s Village” at the Canadian Pet Expo in Mississauga. The “Village” is a space where the breed clubs or representatives of purebred breeds are able to present the breeds in person, let people get hands on with the dogs and to answer as many questions as needed.
Kathryn Arthur and her three dogs: Effy, Jimmy and Maud, Catt Skimin and her three dogs: Ash, Jojo and Panda, Melissa Clermont and her two dogs: Stella and Sara, and Deb Reid with her two dogs; Tash and Aiden spent three days meeting hundreds of people. They were outside of where the dog performance arena was, so it was a busy area. Of course everyone loves a “Corgi” and they heard that yelled more than once. To no surprise, they spent most of their time explaining that in fact there are two breeds of Corgi and then explaining the traits of the Cardigan. Deb brings her Pembroke, Aiden, along so he can be their example of “not that kind of Corgi”.
Many thanks to Deb, Kathryn, Melissa and Catt, and huge kudos to the dogs. It was noisy, busy and sometimes overwhelming with people swarming them but they were all excellent examples of their breed(s) with their gentleness and willingness to greet so many people.
