There’s no point in beating around the bush – it costs a lot to host a specialty! There have already been many very generous donations to our trophy sponsorship funds. We thank everyone who has already donated, and look forward to welcoming even more people to that list. Lots of individual awards are available for sponsorship, or you can choose to donate to the general fund for either the National Specialty (which includes performance events other than herding), and the National Herding Specialty. A donation of $10 or more will sponsor a class placement prize (2nd to 4th), $20 or more will sponsor first place in a class, and $25 or more will sponsor any other awards. Please send an email to Barb at: merrymoon@bell.net, telling her what you want to sponsor and the amount of your donation. The donation can be sent e-transfer (or cheque or money order) to Show Treasurer, Lynne Ragsdale. Donations received before July 15th will be acknowledged in the show catalogue. And remember that your donation can be in memory or honour of a special Cardigan or a special person.
It’s also time to start thinking about donations for our silent auction and raffle. This can be a great opportunity for spring cleaning – along with new items, we welcome donations of gently used treasures. If you are attending the show in August, just let Barb (merrymoon@bell.net) know what you’ll be contributing, and bring it along with you. But you don’t have to be at the show to participate – anybody can donate things for the auction and raffle (or the trophy fund)! You can either send your donation along with someone from your area who will be at the show, or package it up and send it to Barb. Get in touch with her and she’ll help you work out the details.
If, like me, you have a monster to-do list, you could cross one thing off by reserving and paying for your dinner tickets, for our catered barbeque on Saturday, August 25th. It promises to be a fun evening – good food, good company and conversation, and the opportunity to acquire one or two indulgences from the silent auction. Hmmm…. Must remember to take my own advice! The deadline for receipt of reservations and full payment is August 1st.
