As many of you already know, we are delighted to welcome two breeder judges to preside over the conformation events at the 2018 National Specialty Show. The Rev. Dr. C. Patrick Ormos will judge the National Specialty, and Garrett Ramsay will judge the Sweepstakes.
Rev. Dr. Ormos grew up in Montreal and spent the first 39 years living and working there. In 1990, he, his then wife, and their son moved to the USA where he has continued following the sun as he moved ever south.
Patrick bred his first champion, a GSD, in 1968 and has shown and/or bred more than 150 champions since then. Despite having shown and finished champions in all 7 groups, he and his partner, Cathy Ochs-Cline, are best known for their Phi-Vestavia Cardigans. They continue to breed today.
Patrick began judging in 1990 and has had the privilege of adjudicating in several European countries as well as Canada and the US. He looks forward to this return to the Canadian National.
Garrett Ramsay grew up on a five-generation family farm in west central Minnesota. Upon graduation from university he returned to the farm, breeding and raising chickens, sheep and cattle. For several years he raised “show” pigeons. In 2005 he acquired his first Cardigan, an all-purpose working farm dog. Shortly thereafter he became interested in showing Cardigans in conformation and in performance events such as rally, obedience and agility. Eventually he ventured into breeding. He has bred several litters and has finished champions in every litter.
